We have helped promote environmentally sensitive and ocean friendly garden design practices to homeowners, as well as to the design community in many ways. In addition to creating and implementing designs for private residences, Comfort Zones has created single family and multi-residential garden designs for L.E.E.D. projects and the Santa Monica Water Efficiency Sustainable grant program. We have successfully created and added "Habitats for private residences" to the L.E.E.D. for Home point system during the pilot phase of L.E.E.D. for Home. Marilee has been on the approved list of Santa Monica Sustainable Landscape Professionals since its inception.

As founder of the Green Garden Tour and a founding member of the Green Garden Group Los Angeles (G3LA, LLC) , she works with city agencies and larger organizations to create garden tours and demonstration gardens, as well as to teach others about sustainable practices.

Marilee Kuhlmann through Comfort Zones Garden Design believes her goal, to grow greater awareness in the community of the benefits that arise---when gardens are designed thoughtfully, nature is treated with respect and all living things are considered---is attainable, one garden at a time.
